Introduction

St Columba’s Primary School, Straw is a friendly rural, welcoming school located approximately 1 mile from Draperstown in the village of Straw.

The first school in Straw was a hedge school in 1834.  Down the years there has always been a school in Straw. In 1957 the school moved to the building which was in operation until 20 September 2012.  On this day the children and staff relocated to their new school building which was built in the field adjacent to the old school.

The staff at St Columba’s is committed to providing a happy, caring and supportive environment in which all children have the opportunity to develop their fullest potential in an atmosphere which proudly maintains a Catholic ethos.
